Our laboratory primarily conducts research on crop genetic engineering, although its members also
use molecular markers as a tool for transgene deployment and basic breeding. The bulk of the work deals with
the development of protocols for somatic embryogenesis and genetic transformation of
soybean, alfalfa, maize and swithgrass. We are part of the Institute for Plant Breeding, Genetics & Genomics and of the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences at The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.
